“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”

Clay P. Bedford

Thank you for your interest in tutoring a child through Lawyers for Learning! Tutoring is open to all members of the Erie County legal community including judges, attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, law students, and retirees.  It is a one-hour-per-week commitment beginning in mid-October and running through the end of May.  If you are interested in tutoring but cannot commit to tutoring once weekly, you may split the tutoring duties with another colleague.

This school year, tutoring will begin on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 and take place at School #18 either in the morning (8:00AM – 9:00AM) or in the afternoon (4:00PM – 5:00PM or 4:30PM – 5:30PM).*

Almost every year, there are more students signed up for the program than there are tutors available.  If you are interested in signing up to be matched with a student, please complete this form with all requested information. You should submit this form whether you are a new or returning tutor. If you would like a paper application instead, please send us an e-mail.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Taylor Schubauer at lawyersforlearning@gmail.com

*Options for a lunchtime tutoring session may be accommodated upon request.
